This is another satisfactory report.

The original number of Mui Tsai registered

was reported as 4,299, but we are now told that this

should have been 4,368. The amended figures showing

the uiminution in the number of registered Mui Tsai

are as follows:

Out of the 3,482 Mui Tsai, 770 are not at

present to be found at their registered audresses, and

299 of these may be written off before the next report,

if no information about them can be obtaineɑ.

The provision of education for Mui Tsai in

certain cases instead of wages is clearly in the

interests of the Mui Tsai themselves, and I do not
